*** The present ***

Jayden felt his eyelids pulling back, and what he saw both surprised and shocked him. His brother Gino was bent over holding his head, but his brown eyes were drawn to Logan his captain, his friend, the older brother that he never had but claimed a spot in his heart regardless. Logan was in full rage. The blonde, blue eyed warrior always so docile around him that Jayden could barely recognize the teen in front of him. His stance was aggressive, his muscles were tensing, and he was screaming at Coach Johnson. Jayden could swear that he could make out his own name, and that Logan blamed Johnson for kicking Jayden on purpose in the head.

“You knocked him out cold, you fucking asshole!” Logan spat, bits of spit hit the coach in the face as Logan jabbed his finger deep into Coach Johnson’s meaty chest.

*** Jayden vs Theo ***

Jayden was ecstatic.

Gino won. Jayden was whooping for joy at his brother’s victory, and the princes surrounding him were less than thrilled. Jayden couldn’t care in the least. Gino put on a great show and he was proud of him. Jayden screamed Gino’s name at the top of his lungs, his jubilation could not be hidden.

Climbing out of the stands Jayden passed by many of the princes, his eyes were on his brother and he managed to bump into Prince Nico completely by accident.

“Oops,” Jayden said blushed, his cheeks reddened. “My bad.”

Nico gripped his shoulders for balance, his eyes finding Jayden’s soft brown ones. “Gino performed…ah…um…well? That was a spectacle.”

*** Gino vs Lysander ***

When Theo announced his name, Gino walked to the center of the arena. He heard a scattered, polite applause, but Gino did not have any illusions. He was an outsider here, and most of the audience was here to see him submit. ‘Sorry guys, not gonna happen,’ he thought, cracking his neck on either side.

Gino’s opponent was in the arena already, killing time while waiting for him. Lysander was doing knuckle pushups, and he continued counting reps until Gino cleared his throat to make himself known. Either he started counting at 100, or the kid’s a maniac, Gino thought. The young Spartan popped up wearing a toothy grin. Sweat streamed down his narrow chest, and his cut torso glistened from his calisthenics work. Defying the humidity, the colic in his black hair stuck up ridiculously.

“Hey, Gino! Thought you might chicken out,” Lysander dared in a raspy voice. “Most guys are too scared to wrestle against a Spartan.”

*** Picking Sides ***

When he woke up again, Gino could hear the sounds of wrestling practice in the distance. He must have dozed off for a while if Logan and the other guys were already at it. He was eager to join them, but he didn’t bother trying to move right away. He knew without even looking that Jayden was curled against him and had claimed his right pec as a pillow. Gino smiled affectionately at his little brother and ruffled his curly brown hair. Jayden didn’t stir.

‘You must be really tuckered out. Get your rest, champ,’ Gino thought as he carefully peeled himself out from under Jayden. He noticed that the gym felt much hotter than usual, and the soft skin on the insides of his brother’s arm was glued to his with a thin sheen of perspiration. Once he’d extricated himself and settled Jayden back down comfortably, Gino followed his ears to the wrestling practice.

As he walked Gino rolled his head around his neck to stay loose and slapped his pecs to get the blood flowing. He relished those little physical ticks and familiar sensations. But at the moment, the rest of his sensations were feeling less and less familiar. The slap on his pecs seemed to echo off of high stone walls. The floors, too, were stone instead of mats, and Gino was puzzled to discover that he was walking across them in bare feet.

*** Discovery of the Legend of Pankration ***

Jayden Gomez kept glancing at his phone, counting down the minutes until the end of his last period. It’s a law of physics that time slows down during last period, and even a diligent student like Jayden could feel it drag. His new phone just added to his distraction. Jayden was not a tech guy by any means, but he still got a little thrill whenever he looked at it. It was the latest model—a gift from his boyfriend—and was literally the most expensive thing he’d ever owned.

A couple classrooms over, a much less diligent student was watching the clock too. He was a victim of the same last period time warp, except Gino Gomez wasn’t even pretending to pay attention to the math teacher. Or is this the chemistry guy? Gino wasn’t sure. But figuring out which class he was in was a problem for another day. Today’s problem was wrestling practice. The Bartlet High team had been struggling lately, trying to bounce back from a punishing match against Devil Boy and the defection of their veteran 145 pounder, Kim. Logan was guaranteed to be all over them to work harder. Would they be pushing tires up a hill? Boxing in the cafeteria freezer? Do your worst, Krueger, Gino thought, gritting his teeth as the final bell rang.

Theo’s eyes were closed. It was still only late morning, but already the Greek sun was beating on his eyelids.

Today is going to be a hot one, he predicted lazily.

The Athenian reclined with his head and shoulders against a heavy ceramic urn. It was his favorite spot in the Princes’ Palace—the still, center point amid a whirl of action. The Palace was the refuge of the Lost Princes, a rag-tag group of teens from the far corners of the Mediterranean world. Most were “princes” in name only, with a few blue-blooded exceptions. Regardless of what had brought them to Thebes in the first place, the Lost Princes all stayed because their Palace was an island of camaraderie and competition. As energetic young studs, they loved nothing more than to compete against each other in sports, games, and even in love. No competition brought all those together quite like the Pankration. Theo relished his role of drawing names for the next match.

Of course I can see it clearly now, Theo thought ruefully, gazing across the torch-lit arena. Far away from the rest, one boy was watching the action all alone, not aware that he was being observed. Alexander always said he had friends here. I just assumed he was bluffing like usual. But the coincidence is too much, he was was always in the wrong place at the wrong time. Fuck me for missing it before.

Lost amid the deafening roar of the crowd, Theo gave a low whistle. Of course nobody heard him. Everyone’s attention was on Nico and the degrading spectacle that Alexander was making of the popular prince. But Theo did not look. There was a lump in his throat that would not go away, and he knew that if he looked at Nico’s abused body, he wouldn’t be able to focus. And he needed to focus, for Nico’s sake. As Theo raised his fingers to his mouth to whistle again, two pairs of deep blue eyes flashed toward him.

Son of a bitch. They actually heard me.

Pankration - match 9: Thicker than water (1) (written by Harry)

This is a new episode of Harry's epic series Pankration that is set in Ancient Greece. It's so huge that we split it in two. You won't have to wait for long, though: Part 2 is coming tomorrow. I hope you enjoy this story as much as I did!

Previous parts:
Pankration
Match 1: Tallus vs. Amun

Match 4: Theaetetus vs. Amun

Match 7: Secret friends
Match 8: Cat and mouse

The Princes’ Palace lurched into frenetic activity like a faithful dog spooked during a still night — wary and ferocious and posturing. The halls and galleries were inexplicably crowded. Whispered conversations bubbled up with more excitement than content. The summer night was swelteringly hot, and the dull black sky flamed to life every now and then, revealing anxious faces and wide eyes.

Theo stared at the ceiling above his bed with glazed eyes. For once he regretted that he was not alone. His mind was whirling after his recent fight, and his body was… How was his body, exactly? Hurt. That much was certain. His lip was busted, his ribs felt like they were broken, and his pitiful, empty balls throbbed hot and swollen between his legs. Even a tiny shift in position brought fresh tears to Theo’s eyes.

Much to his own disappointment, Theo woke up alone in his own bed.

What a shitty way to wake up, he thought.

His wide brown eyes traced the familiar pattern of tiny cracks in the ceiling, but he didn’t move otherwise. The events of the last night flickered gradually over the surface of his mind. Minus the wine and the adrenaline, his prior evenings’ escapades often felt different, and last night was no exception.

“Ugh. Did I seriously let that snobby priest tuck me into my own bed?” he muttered. He rolled his head over and inhaled deeply from his pillow. But Amun’s warm, spiced scent was not there.

“Hmm. Good. He’d probably have gotten the wrong idea.” Theo glared at the pillow, daring it to challenge him. “Prude.”

“Today is going to be awesome.”

Lysander watched nebulous shadow of his window gradually resolve into a firm square as the sky outside brightened ever so slightly. He lay on the floor with his hands behind his head. The sunrise was still a long way off, but its arrival heralded a new day full of new experiences. “Yeah, totally awesome.”

Lysander rolled smoothly to his feet and tidied up his thin sleeping pad. He tucked the pad in the corner and put on his simple cotton fundoshi. The fabric was coarsely woven but soft from long use, and the wrapped cord nestled between the teen’s pert buttocks comfortably. The traditional garment wasn’t very fashionable outside of his hometown of Sparta, but he enjoyed the feeling of it inside his crack and hugging his balls—it reminded him that he was a man now.

Lysander bit his lip when he went to tie the fundoshi in front. His morning wood jutted out from behind the soft cotton, thwarting his attempts to tie the belt. He glared darkly at his unruly manhood. He had things to do, and it was no time for goofing around. He pulled the cords, and the fabric cinched roughly around his engorged cock.

Match 5: Karma

Warning: Can contain traces of cum.

At his desk in the shady corner of the common space, a studious young man with curly brown hair concentrated, struggling to memorize a long list of names.

Over his shoulder, a younger teen craned his neck to get look at the list. He fidgeted, trying to smooth a colic in his short-cropped black hair, until he was shushed by the older boy.

Nearby two more teens gazed intently over a chess board. They lay on the floor with their chins propped on their elbows. The slight, shaggy-haired one moved his pieces quickly, swooping over the board like a bird. His opponent approached the match more cautiously; he bit his lip and evaluated all possible outcomes, while the piece hovered above the board in his brawny grip.

Observing the chess match from a distance another young man was seated in erect meditation. His breath was as light and even as the morning sun, but he was secretly watching. His dark eyes warned the hesitant player of danger should he commit his piece to the wrong square.

It was quiet in the Princes’ Palace. Too quiet.

Clunk.
Clunk.
Clunk.

Theo walked aimlessly along the shady colonnade of the Princes’ Palace. The stormy weather of the previous day had given way to a clear and quiet morning. Theo’s tempestuous mood from yesterday had likewise mellowed, and the Athenian was feeling reflective. Had he been too tough on the Amun during their match? Why had he been so jealous of the Egyptian prince in the first place? And why did everyone seem to think their sexy fight had been so boring? Theo closed his soft brown eyes and tried to clear his head, but the image of Amun’s defiant, muddy face persisted. “Snobby jerk prince,” he muttered, then continued on toward the athletic grounds.

Clunk.
Clunk.

The rhythmic thud of stone against stone clunked distantly. The sound made Theo curious, because maintenance was rare here in the remote and largely overlooked corner of the palace that was the de facto headquarters of the Lost Princes.

Warning: Can contain traces of cum.

It had rained all night in Thebes, and it and continued raining right through the morning. At first the rain had been a refreshing respite from the summer heat, but now as Theo sat looking out at the Princes’ Palace from under the colonnade, the downpour just looked heavy and dull. He sighed. It appeared that there would be no Pankration today.

After just a few days of competition, the Pankration had become a central event for the rag tag group of young warriors nicknamed the Lost Princes. Normally their courtyard was a remote and forgotten corner of the palace, but as word of the Pankration had spread, an increasing number of young men had found reasons to stop by, practicing their wrestling or just chatting. Even some of the younger palace servants had made excuses to pass through, hoping to catch a glimpse of the fierce combats they had heard gossip about. But the night’s rain had turned the soft sand of their courtyard to sloppy mud. Shallow pools splashed where battles otherwise might have raged.

Theo looked out bleakly around the empty colonnade and noticed that he was not entirely alone. Across the expanse, he recognized Nico’s blonde head and animated gestures. Peering through the drizzle, Theo could barely make out Amun sitting next to Nico. The Egyptian teen sat straight with formal posture, but he was smiling happily as he listened to whatever story the prince of Thebes was telling.

Pankration - match 3: Lysander vs Ali (written by Harry)

This is the fourth part of Harry's epic series Pankration that is set in Ancient Greece. I hope you enjoy this story as much as I did!

Previous parts:
Pankration
Match 1: Tallus vs. Amun
Match 2: Nico vs. Pollux

Warning: Can contain traces of cum.

Theo could feel something different in the air on the third day of Pankration. It seemed that nearly every young man from the neighborhood had found his way to the seldom-used athletics courtyard dubbed the Princes Palace. Among the rag tag group, Theo recognized not just the Lost Princes, but also a handful of teenage sons of Theban nobles and merchants. Even a few servant boys from the main palace had managed to evade their work for a while. They observed quietly from a shady corner of the colonnade. Theo winked at them conspiratorially, which made them look around nervously.

The story of Nico’s humbling defeat had obviously gotten around. Of course the cheerful blonde prince would not show it—even now his laurel-wrapped blonde curls shook as he horsed around with the Gaul Tallus and the Persian Ali—but Theo was sure that Nico’s forced, public submission still stung.

“Hey, Theo…”

Pankration - match 2: Nico vs Pollux (written by Harry)

This is the third part of Harry's epic series Pankration that is set in Ancient Greece. I hope you enjoy this story as much as I did!

Previous parts:
Pankration
Match 1: Tallus vs. Amun

Warning: Can contain traces of cum.

The crowd gathered in the Princes’ Palace seemed larger than it had been the day before. Word must have spread about the previous day’s match. The Lost Princes’ curiosity had been piqued at the prospect of tough combat with an edge of sexual domination. For a bunch of confident teenage warriors with nothing to do all summer, what could be more exciting? Now after the first match yesterday, when one of their peers lay defeated in the dust and another’s arm was raised in victory, the competition had seized hold of their imaginations.

Theaetetus, he olive-skinned brunette from Athens, had dreamt up the game called Pankration, so he had become the unofficial referee. Theo reached into the deep urn, and it like there were more stones inside than there had been yesterday. More contestants must have decided they were ready to test their strength and added their names to the drawing. Theo pulled out two stones at random and glanced at the names that had been scratched across them. He paused for dramatic effect. In the front row, the young Spartan Lysander was nearly skipping in place with eagerness to be chosen.

Theo squinted at the stone that he had pulled from the Pankration urn. Since his idea had inspired the new game, the cute Athenian brunette had become the de facto host of the competition. Each day he would pick two stones at random from a large urn. The ragtag group of palace teens known as the Lost Princes had entered the combat competition by etching their names on the stones and casting them into the urn.

Theo could feel the eyes of the assembled Lost Princes burning into him with anticipation; many wanted to be picked, but others looked less confident. The stone Theo held was scratched viscously all over, but he couldn’t decipher any name. “Umm…” he stalled, holding it up to the assembled teens for help. “Anybody recognize this one?”

The Persian boy Ali spoke up. “That’s Tallus’ mark,” he said, confirming his judgment after Theo passed him the stone. The red-headed Gaul warrior recognized his mark and grinned happily. He slapped his muscular chest to indicate that he was ready to compete, then he sprinted away to prepare before his opponent was even announced. Theo drew a second stone from the urn and called out the name of Tallus’ challenger.

Pankration (written by Harry)

This is the first part of a wonderful, epic story written by our reader Harry (author of Captain's cradle and its sequels Captain's crew (part 1 and part 2) and Captain's challenge). This part is mainly introduction. The next part (which has a lot more action) will be published tomorrow. I hope you enjoy this story as much as I did!

Introduction

Set in ancient Greece, this story features a group of young men in their late teens who are wards of the king of Thebes. Called the ‘Lost Princes,’ they are sons of aristocrats or military leaders from all corners of the Mediterranean world; they reside at the palace at Thebes as guarantees of alliances or loyalty. Some of the Princes are honored guests, and others are virtually prisoners, but in Thebes they have no family or peers except each other. They form loyal friendships and fierce rivalries, since each young man is proud and eager to demonstrate his strength and bravery to the others.

The Greeks love to compete with each other in everything from athletics to games of chance, but their favorite competitions are combats. For the Lost Princes, the pinnacle of competition is called the Pankration — a tournament-style series of one-on-one combats. Participating in Pankration offers the winner glory in combat, but the loser risks shame and sexual humiliation.  Many boys enter the competition trusting their strength or their speed or even secret tricks to bring them victory. A few young men are also intrigued by the sexual condition of victory — the opponent is not defeated until he submits his seed. The risks and rewards of erotic combat ensure that each Pankration match is a main event for the young men of Thebes.
