“So…you want to be a big brother?” asks Krueger. “I thought that you liked being an only child?”

 

“Hey! That’s not fair Dad, he’s had it kind of rough and—”

 

Bradley puts up his hands at the table. It’s twilight, and the light is filling the house as Bradley says “All I’m trying to say is that, it’s not going to be easy. He’s fifteen, a teen growing into an adult. It will happen quickly, but while you are with him he’s going to be an asshole.”

 

Logan chuckles, a wry grin spreading on his face. “Don’t worry, I already know that. And, I am still going to do it. I made a commitment Dad, and I’m going to watch out for Chase…at least until he is eighteen.”

 

“Okay fine, but at least do a trial run.”

 

Logan stands up from the table, he’s still sweaty from his latest wrestling match. He wants to finish his burger in peace and take a shower. “Dad, I am not going to subject Chase to a…”

“Not with Chase. This is a trial run for you. I’ve got an idea. I’m going to ask one of your cousins to stay here for the weekend. You have to make sure and not kill him. Think you can do that?”

 

“I’ve babysat for them before, that’s no big deal.”

 

Bradley grabs Logan’s arm leaning in to tell him the clincher, “But this time… he will be alone. You will have to provide for him all the entertainment and make sure that he doesn’t die on your watch. Think you can do that?”

 

Logan grins, “I’ve got this.”

“That’s right,” Mr. Brady tells Sam Hell. “I have to be dealer. Bill is too young and…I don’t think you would be interested.”

 

Sam Hell raises his left eyebrow, knowing when someone is trying to bait him. “If you want me to go with you to this…poker night. You will have to ask.”

 

“You?” Mr. Brady appears appalled by the very idea, and grabs his shirt theatrically. “I couldn’t possibly ask you to put yourself on the line.”

 

“Mr. Brady…” Sam begins but Mr. Brady tuts and interrupts him patting his shoulder. 

 

“Besides Gino and Logan will be there, classmates of yours and I know that could get awkward for you. I don’t think those two chums are friends.”

Bradley Kruger, Logan’s Dad is shuffling the cards at Gomez Family home preparing for the next round.
