Birthday plans

Today I got a phone call from Jimmy, the twins’ older brother and a professional soccer player in England. He was here a few days ago to compete in an all-out ball kicking competition against his team mate Frank. He lost and had to bear the consequences, i.e. his nuts were shaved and abused by our models.

When he called he sounded cheerful and bright – much to my surprise. I had expected him to be upset about the way the competition turned out. I asked him about it and he chuckled.

“You see”, he said, “I didn’t like it – but I lost fair and square. I guess I have to hide my junk from the rest of my team mates, though. They’d have a field day on my nuts if they saw my shaved bits. I just hope Frank won’t tell them.” He sighed. “But he probably will.”

I grinned. “So everything is working fine again?”

Jimmy sighed. “My balls are black and blue. I haven’t tested their efficiency, yet, but I don’t think they will be out of order for long. You know, they have taken the odd blow on the field now and then – and there has never been any permanent damage…”

“That’s nice to hear…”

“Absolutely!” he chuckled.

I laughed.

Then Jimmy changed the subject: “It’s Will and Michael’s birthday in April and I thought we could do something special for them, like a party or something.”

“Sounds nice.”

“Yeah. Well, I’m pretty busy here at the moment so I won’t be able to do the planning”, Jimmy paused. “I wondered if you could do that.”

I thought about that for a moment.

“You know”, Jimmy continued, “invite a few friends, maybe have a theme to it, something like that.”

“Okay”, I said, “I’ll think of something. Will you be there on the day?”

“I will if I can arrange it.”

“Great. When is it?” I asked.

“It’s the 4th of April”, Jimmy answered.

“So we have more than two months to get things going.”

“Right.”

“No problem. It’s gonna be a wild party!” I grinned.

Jimmy laughed. “They are gonna love it!”

“You bet!”

“Alex, you could… you know… arrange for a few ball games to be played, too, couldn’t you?” Jimmy said with a mock-conspiratorial tone in his voice.

I laughed out loud. “You’re really getting into it, arent’t you?”

Jimmy laughed, too. “Kind of. I want them to have a great party. And what’s a party without popping a few balloons?”

Oh what a great way to tie it into another series, I'll have to check that one out too sometime. Although I think I may have read it before, back when I was too nervous to leave comments.
I remember it being really good!
